- Takaetsu Shimizu establishes Shinwa Adrasive Corporation in a small industrial town in Tokyo. Sells abrasives, grinding wheels, polishing machinery and tools.
- A major US nail company orders a special nail file to fit their product. Shinwa develops a nail file with a buffer material to reduce damage to the nails. It become the first nail file in the world to use buffer material.
- Start production of grinding whetstone.
- Foot and nail files sell well in the USA and sales offices are set up
in Los Angeles and New Jersey.
- Establishes new factory in Mishima, Shizuoka, an entrance town
to Mt Fuji.
- Establishes Shinwa Corporation in Tokyo.
- Becomes sole distributor of ibd products in Japan and obtained
a license to manufacture and sell cosmetics.
- Becomes sole distributor of SPARITUAL in Japan.
- Launches MITHOS, an original brand of nail brushes and files. Widely spread and supported by nail professionals throughout Japan.
- Launches GELGRAPH, an original gel nail brand. Introduced in many nail salons in Japan.

Birth story of Buffer & Shiner
Takaetsu saw the abrasive waste by product during a break from his work at the factory and wondered, “Wouldn‘t this remove dirt from my hands, too?” rubbed his hands with that , and discovered that even his fingernails were shining. This was the birth of the buffer and shiner.
Compared to the chamois leather shiners of the time, it was a epoch-making product that required no polishing powder and was inexpensive.
